A Partnership with Renewed Commitment to Support the EB Community

In rare diseases there are often only a few companies working to develop new treatment options for severely underserved patient populations. Many of us face the same challenges in disease education and clinical trial design. We learn from patients and their families. And sometimes companies can learn from each other.
For Castle Creek Pharmaceuticals and Fibrocell, we had a natural ability to learn from each other from the very beginning. We got to talking at various events focused on supporting the epidermolysis bullosa (EB) patient community including the annual debra Gala. An ideal partnership formed around a strong commitment to the EB community. Our relationship grew and less than a year ago we combined forces to create Castle Creek Biosciences, a portfolio company of Paragon Biosciences.
Together, we believe we have unlocked tremendous potential. We are advancing research evaluating an investigational gene therapy for recessive dystrophic EB. We are also continuing to investigate a topical therapy for EB simplex and other forms of EB. Our complementary investigational therapies represent a stronger pipeline to treat a broader population of patients. We have a proprietary technology platform and manufacturing infrastructure in place for our gene therapy product candidates. We believe our relationships with academia and patient-based organizations like debra will be instrumental in advancing these development programs.
We hope our partnership can be an example of how to build valuable relationships to better support rare disease patients and families around the world. We are steadfast in our commitment to the EB community and will continue to keep patients, caregivers and clinicians informed on the progress of our current programs.
